Twila LaBar is an artist and storyteller whose work speaks to the heart. She began singing in church at age 10, started writing songs and playing drums by 12, and eventually followed her passion to Nashville, where she became a staff songwriter for four major Christian music publishers.
Her song Orphans of God earned a BMI Award and two Dove Award nominations, and has been recorded by artists including Avalon, Cana’s Voice, Ty Herndon, and Kristin Chenoweth. Their version topped the iTunes Christmas chart in 2020. Orphans of God continues to resonate with listeners around the world.
Twila’s songs have also been recorded by Point of Grace, Dottie Peoples, Karen Peck and New River, Gold City, and Jeff and Sheri Easter with Vince Gill, and more.
Though she never planned to be a filmmaker, the creative rhythm of video production felt like home. She’s directed three award-winning films that blend her music background with deeply human storytelling. Her narrative films Blanche and Ten in Texas are available on Amazon, with Blanche also on Apple TV and Vimeo.
Her latest film, Where the Horses Heal the Soul, is an inspiring documentary that explores how Equine-Assisted Services at ROCK Ride On Center for Kids help transform lives through riding and forming deep bonds with horses. The film has already received multiple festival awards and is set for release in 2025
At the heart of Twila’s work is a deep commitment to telling stories that uplift and inspire. Whether through music or film, she creates to touch hearts and help people connect with transformative stories of hope, purpose, and truth.
